Solidarity visits to the hunger strikers in Strasbourg continue

Hunger strikers in Strasbourg are being visited by many activists. People from many cities of France and Germany came to express their support on Sunday and Monday.

Among the visitors were representatives from the Protestant church of Temple Neuf, the European Union of Syriacs (ESU) executive Semir Özmen from Switzerland, members of the movement ‘the world to live’ from Cologne, members of the European Jineology Committee and dozens of people from the German cities of Mannheim, Pforzheim and Stuttgart.

“This resistance – said the representative of ‘the world to live’ – is very valuable to us as it is a resistance not only against isolation, but against total aggression.”

European Syriac Union wished success to hunger strikers

During their visit, representatives of the ESU stressed the importance of the hunger strikes against the isolation imposed on Kurdish People’s Leader Abdullah Öcalan. Pointing out the importance of the common struggle of the peoples, ESU members and executives expressed their belief that the action will be successful.

There are 14 people on hunger strike in Strasbourg, including former HDP Urfa deputy, Dilek Öcalan, co-chair of the Kurdish Democratic Society Congress (KCDK-E), Yüksel Koç, and politician Mustafa Sarıkaya.

The hunger strike was launched at a press conference on 17 December, and is being carried out at the premises of the Democratic Kurdish Community Center (Rue de la Broque 67000 Strasbourg).

Members of the Protestant Church, who visited activists on Sunday said they support the action and would spread the news to make support growing.
