Speaking on behalf of the International Coordination of Revolutionary Parties and Organizations (ICOR), Dotten said that all parties should support the resistance action and the demands of the Kurdish people to end isolation against Öcalan.
Members of the German Marxist Leninist Communist Party (MLPD) visited the 14 Kurdish activists on hunger strike in Strasbourg.
The hunger strikers are demanding the end of isolation against Kurdish People’s Leader Abdullah Öcalan. They have been on hunger strike for 91 days.
Cemil Gültekin, executive of the Association of Families of Martyrs ‘and Disappeared (KOMAW) accompanied the MLPD delegation.
Horst Dotten and Yüksel Fındık-Dotten took part in the MLPD delegation.
The delegation was welcomed by hunger striker Yüksel Koç, who is also the co-chair of the European Kurdish Democratic Society Congress (KCDK-E).
Koç reminded that the Turkish government has been putting pressure on the German government which is implementing a hostile policy against the Kurdish people. Emphasizing the common struggle of the peoples, Koç stated that the support of the internationalist movements, especially the MLPD, is important for the Kurdish people.
The KCDK-E co-chair reiterated that the activists are determined to continue their hunger strike.
Dotten: All parties should support the resistance
MLPD member Horst Dotten made a statement after the visit, expressing the party’s solidarity and support of the hunger strike. Speaking on behalf of the International Coordination of Revolutionary Parties and Organizations (ICOR), Dotten also said that all parties should support the resistance action and the demands of the Kurdish people to end isolation against the Kurdish People’s Leader.
ICOR is a coordination of 46 parties and movements from tens of countries and was founded in 2010. ICOR opened a hospital in Kobanê after its liberation from DAESH mercenaries.
Komaw: Europe talks about democracy yet doesn’t act in its defence
Cemil Gültekin, executive of the Association of Families of Martyrs ‘and Disappeared (KOMAW) said that they condemned the silence of Europe about the Kurdish hunger strike resistance. Criticizing the attitude of the European institutions, in particular the Committee for the Prevention of Torture (CPT), Gültekin said: “The European countries are constantly talking about human rights and democracy. For years, however, the leader of the Kurdish people has not been able to meet with his family or his lawyers. Yet they have taken no step to prevent this violation of the most basic right of a prisoner.”
