Protest against isolation in Paris and Rennes

Activists paid tribute to Kurdish activist Uğur Şakar and prisoners Zülküf Gezen, Zehra Sağlam and Ayten Beçet who ended their life to protest the isolation imposed on Öcalan.

The Life Against Isolation Platform held two demonstrations in Paris and Rennes.

In Paris the action was at Republique Square and activists paid tribute to Kurdish activist Uğur Şakar and prisoners Zülküf Gezen, Zehra Sağlam and Ayten Beçet who ended their life to protest the isolation imposed on Öcalan.

Activists also paid tribute to MLKP commander Bayram Namaz (Baran Serhat) who fell martyr in Rojava.

“Leyla Güven is not alone” said the banner carried by activists to Chatlet Square. Here the crowd held a minute’s silence for all the martyrs of the revolution.

Life Against Isolation Platform representative, Asiye Esra Güden, said: “We are receiving news of a new martyr every day. We have great responsibilities in Europe. We have to be the voice of Leyla Güven and all the other hunger strikers. We must be in action on the streets every day.”

Demonstration in Rennes

In Rennes a demonstration was organised by the Zin Women’s Association and the Sara Sewe Women’s Council to protest isolation.

A special tribute was paid to Kurdish activist Uğur Şakar and prisoners Zülküf Gezen, Zehra Sağlam and Ayten Keçet who ended their life to protest the isolation imposed on Öcalan.

Members of the Democratic Society Center also joined the demonstration led by the women’s assembly.

Activists staged a one-hour sit-in in front of the train station.
